Corporate Governance Essentials for IT Managers

When you reach the management level in your organisation, technical and functional expertise matters less than leadership skills and a deep understanding of business fundamentals. Corporate governance is one of the business areas that has a large impact on the organisation and its management. Major corporate scandals, such as Enron, Parmelat and Tyco started a trend of renewed focus on corporate governance. The global financial crisis with its governance failures of financial companies, regulatory agencies, and public corporations has accelerated this trend. Governance is invariably subject to human behaviour and therefore leaders need insight in the ethical, political and cultural aspects that shape proper governance.

This course will take a broad organisational view of governance and will focus on the board and its impact on the organisation and its management. This course is practical in nature and focusses on real world exercises, examples, and case studies.
