Equinox company planning day 2011

Last Thursday Equinox IT had its company planning day - held at Ohariu Farm in the Johnsonville/Ohariu area of Wellington. The whole company of around 55 people from both our Wellington and Auckland offices attended.

On a perfect early autumn Wellington day the company intermingled the serious planning and discussion activities with the less serious humour, consumption of food, and fun activities.

Company strategies and changes were presented for the coming year, IT industry trends were discussed, and group sessions were facilitated. In true Equinox fashion even this serious stuff included a good dose of humour.

Ohariu Farm put on a fantastic lunch, and during an extended lunch break many of us participated in archery, 'farm style' golf driving, and discussing ideas in the sun.

For most of the day I was concerned - it was looking likely that for the second year in a row I would be voted to win the BOTY Award (awarded for the most humorous blunder). Luckily at the 11th hour a new nomination was submitted along with security camera footage showing Adam Blanken, Equinox System Administrator, falling over when he went to sit back on a swiss ball that had rolled away. Adam, well done (I think) for winning the BOTY (sigh of relief from me).

Congratulations to Kosta Hahladakis, Senior Consultant in our Architecture Practice, who won the Spotty award this year for the consistently outstanding level of consulting work that he has delivered to Equinox clients over the last year.

At 4pm we broke for drinks before climbing back on the bus to return to Wellington. The end of another insightful, fun and rewarding Equinox company planning day.
